Wireframes and user testing

Objective for the day

Test before building. Formulate precise hypotheses, produce simple wireframes, organise tests with real users, analyse feedback, decide whether to iterate or pivot, and structure a Business Model Canvas consistent with your value proposition.

Morning keynote

Use wireframes to test, not just to present. How to formulate a testable hypothesis: a precise statement whose validity can be measured. How to build a simple, rigorous test protocol. The Business Model Canvas: its logic, building blocks and connection to the value proposition.

Teamwork & fieldwork

  • Explicitly formulate the hypotheses to test.
  • Produce wireframes using the blank templates provided.
  • Run tests with people matching your personas or potential users, following the protocol.
  • Analyse feedback: what supports the hypothesis, and what contradicts it?
  • Decide whether to iterate (adjust) or pivot (change direction).
  • Create a first version of the Business Model Canvas.
M3 — Tested hypotheses & BMC

End-of-day deliverable

  • Wireframes produced using the templates provided.
  • Explicit hypotheses, formulated before testing.
  • The test scenario and protocol used.
  • Documented user feedback.
  • Iterations or pivots, with supporting reasons.
  • A consolidated value proposition.
  • A Business Model Canvas consistent with the project.

Your work between sessions

  1. Continue testing the prototype with users (10 tests).
  2. Iterate based on testing until you achieve the strongest possible validation.
  3. Complete the Business Model Canvas.
